CETMAR presents at the Galician Offshore International Hub the progress of the FLORES and ShoreWinner projects to enhance skills for the marine renewable energy sector

The Technology Centre of the Sea- CETMAR participates in the Galician Offshore International Hub to be held on 24th and 25th October in Ferrol, to present the progress of the FLORES and ShoreWinner projects to enhance training and skills for the marine renewable energy sector.

According to the programme, CETMAR will participate in the round table dealing with European projects and funds that promote offshore wind energy. CETMAR will present the FLORES project, which is led by the institution dependant on the Regional Department for Marine Issues.

Funded by the European Erasmus Plus programme, FLORES ‘Forward Looking at the Offshore Renewables’ is developing tools and activities to strengthen skills in the sector. Specifically, it focuses on expanding specialised training opportunities, promoting career paths within the industry, and establishing a Skills Observatory. The goal is to foster the sustainability of the Marine Renewable Energy Consortium into the Pact for Skills, ensuring the long-term success of this initiative

Two workshops will be held simultaneously. In the first one, two FLORES working groups will present their results: educational and awareness-raising materials to promote vocations in Marine Renewable Energies and enhance the community created around the project to promote the consortium sustainability. Participants will be invited to share their views on the occupational profiles and the constraints to participation.

In the second workshop the ShoreWinner project, co-funded by the Erasmus plus programme and with the participation of CETMAR, will be presented. Shorewinner will establish five Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) in Southern European countries, where they group together Training Centres and Companies interested in improving skills for marine renewable energies. Located in Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, and Cyprus, they will collaborate to improve skills in the offshore wind energy value chain.

After the presentation of the Project, the public will be invited to join the Community of Practice in Galicia and Canarias, following up the work initiated in FLORES.

Both the panel discussion and the first workshop will take place on the first day of the GOinterHUB to be held tomorrow, Thursday 24th October at 9:30 am. The workshop devoted to ShoreWinner will be held after the FLORES workshop at 11:30 am.
