On the 3rd December the Socioeconomy Area of CETMAR organises a talk on “Governance through the marine reserves of the Galician Rías”, by  Antonio García Allut, Professor of Applied Social Anthropology in the University of A Coruña.

The conference, that will take place at 12.00 h, in the conference room of the CETMAR Foundation in Vigo, is held in the frame of the SAF-21 project “Social Science aspects of fisheries for the 21st Century». This is an initiative funded through the 2020 Programme of the European Union aimed to creating a frame of research, learning and collaboration among young researchers within fishing management in the European field. The assistants who wish to attend must send an email to marmesto@cetmar.org.

Led by the University of Tromsø, in SAF-21, other participants are MATIS, University of Iceland (Háskóli Íslands), Mapix Ltd., Syntesa Ltd. (SME) and the Universities of Manchester and Utrecht.

The project will end in 2018 and until then, the creation of a network of social scientists will be developed for fisheries management in the European Union.  The network is aimed for training experts in the analysis of the social behaviour to improve management of complex partner-ecological systems such as fisheries.
