Galician Regional Government, CETMAR Foundation and Norwegian center SINTEF will collaborate in RDI issues regarding fisheries and aquacultures sectors, as agreed yesterday by representatives of these organisms in Norway.
Given their presence in Norway for the AquaNOR fair, General Secretary of Maritime Affairs of Galicia, Juan Maneiro, Managing-Director of CETMAR Foundation, Paloma Rueda and Head of Fisheries Socioeconomic Department of CETMAR, Rosa Chapela held a meeting with Vegar Johansen, president of SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture, and other three representatives of the organization.
The meeting helped to explore possible synergies and stablish the foundations for future joint projects. The issues covered included fisheries inspections, technologies for fishing vessels, on board safety systems, new technologies for processing and improving quality in fish products on board, water recirculation in aquaculture facilities and technology in off-shore aquaculture facilities. The CETMAR Foundation took the opportunity to present some of the research projects in which they are currently working on, as the European PrimeFish project.
SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture conducts research projects in new technologies for the Norwegian fish sector. SINTEF also develops projects of investigation in the medicine, technologies and social science fields. The center is considered as the largest independent research organization in Scandinavia and as one of the four major independent research organizations in Europe.
